CAN LIS, Mallorca (Spain) August 2026

Can Lis is an iconic cliffside residence in Mallorca, Spain, designed in 1971 by architect Jørn Utzon as a refuge for his family. Named after his wife, the property consists of four distinct sandstone pavilions strategically aligned to trace the sun's natural path. It is celebrated for its poetic use of local materials; primarily golden Marès stone and native pine, which blend seamlessly into the Mediterranean landscape. The layout acts like a series of protective caves, featuring deep-set windows with invisible external frames that frames the sea like moving art. Today, it is meticulously preserved by the Utzon Foundation and serves as an exclusive, inspiring residency for artists and architects.
